Microsoft Goes Up Against Adsense and a free $5

images1.jpg

I don’t really do news but this seemed of interest. Today the Jensense blog has news on Microsoft’s answer to Google’s AdSense.

It’s called ContentAds. The good thing is that that means the trinity is done and all 3 leading search engines are in the game.

The bad news is that I will have to step up my efforts to get you off of these drugs.

And speaking of money…There’s a new company that’s using the paypal model to enable SMS/Text based payments via your cell phone. Like Paypal did, back in the day, they’ll pay you $5 just for signing up. Here’s the link for that offer.

My first question was what in the world would I use it for? Here are a few suggestions from their blog on it’s use:

ย

– Split your restaurant bills right then and there!
– Pay your team or club dues anywhere and anytime.
– Pitch in real money instead of IOUs for a shared gift.
– Settle your roommate’s rent and utility bills on the spot.

The company has already been featured in wired magazine, and it looks like paypal is not standing still. They just hired people skilled in the wireless market to launch their own mobile payment system. Watch this market.

[plus if enough of you signup I get a free xbox360.๐Ÿ™‚ So grab your cellphones!]
