The Travis Test: What Does A Brand Say?

img_newbeetle_pro_165.jpg

My brother started reading my blog last week.

He doesn’t own a blog (he does have a MySpace page) and doesn’t really get why I write about what I do. But I think that you know a lot about him.

So, without his permission, we’re going to play a little game.

An Apple Video iPod.

A VW Beatle.

In the past six months my brother purchased both of those things.

Just from looking at that short list can you acurately guess what other brands he probably purchased in the last six months?

Place your guesses in the comments section…(And thanks for dropping in, Bro.)

    1. Every Coldplay Album

    2. Pottery Barn emroidered shams with matching pillow set

    3. Out Magazine

Just kidding Travis… get over here and tell your brother to lay off of your personal life as subject matter for his scribblings.

I am too busy (lazy) to write anything substantial so I have to use my family as entertainment fodder. btw, I think you got all 3 wrong.

Would anyone who owns a video iPod ever buy an album? I think not. But we’ll see, I could be wrong.

Pottery Barn? Maybe, just one question. WTF is Pottery Barn?

And if #3 is true I’m sure it’s just for the detailed political analysis and fashion tips…

I guess they don’t have PB in Florida:

I use the term “album” for the compilations of concurrently released songs I download from iTunes. Hope that’s not too antiquated.

And I read Playboy for the articles, too.

We’ll see Anthony. Good guesses. BTW, wtf is 42 Below? Clothes? (Travis will post what brands are right.).
I think Ikea furniture is a good guess. That always reminds me of the movie Fight Club (which he hated and I LOVED. Go figger).

I’m sure you all realize the point of this game. People are kinda predictable. And you, as a blog or blog network owner can almost piggyback on a brand if you know what they stand for.

I really hope I get some more guesses.

    pants that are too big

    Liz,
You know that no one loves you more than me but I can’t let you ruin the game.

The instructions clearly state that you are supposed to list BRANDS. No matter what you beleive in your heart “pants that are too big” is not a brand.🙂

    Please try again.

  9. Anthony Says:

Mate if you have to ask it means you’re not worthy😉

42 Below is a Vodka that has only been around for 3-4 years. It’s is THE uber vodka choice of young hip things everywhere. It’s made by Australia’s cousins across the ditch in New Zealand. It is hands down one of the top ten worldwide marketing success stories from the last few years. Lots of great branding, guerilla and viral stuff. Well worth a look for good ideas/inspiration. Also well worth a sip for a good drink.

  10. chartreuse Says:

OH!!!! That 42 Below!!! What was I thinking….🙂

Actually, I think I may have heard of it but being a Chartreuse drinker I didn’t pay attention. That’s a good pick. Nice.

Fill us in on their viral and guerilla stuff. I’m always looking for stuff to remix.

  14. chartreuse Says:
