The Blogging Times Adds A Hot Chick (Or I Finally Have Someone To Talk About Music With)
We at The Blogging Times are slowly making moves as we try to cover the best of the blog world.
So first we managed to pull legend Duncan Riley to write about the blogosphere.
[YouTube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXEViriFqUw]
Now we’ve added Erin Fetherman to do a weekly videocast about the music on MySpace.
(And wait till you see who we have coming next week…)

Video huh? O.K.
I like the girl. The cuts were interesting. She went on kind of long though. I don’t have that kind of attention span.
What I do find interesting is that you are using music from MySpace. Clever, since everyone is on it anyway. I’ld be interested to see what the reaction is from the normal Blogging Times audience. It’s not what I expect to see when visiting.
You obviously have a plan though. Can’t wait to see who you have next week.Getting Duncan was a nice coup.
Good Luck!

Next week – where the %^#&%^# is the memo.

Looks good, video was a bit choppy overall good performance for a first show. Will keep an eye.

I thought the cuts gave it a David Fincher, Fight Club kind of feel. But hey I’m into that stuff…
August 22, 2006 at 4:29 pm
She knows Arabic. Goes to Columbia University. Was a US Marine.
Char, I think you was the one who found her. Seems like your type, a smart girl that will eventually kick your ass!
August 22, 2006 at 4:30 pm
Terry C – home run 🙂
August 22, 2006 at 4:44 pm
ouch…
I got some help finding her from Rafi. He knows all the MySpace chicks and sent me some choices. Cool, smart guy.
But I guess the point is yeah, she can kick my ass!
August 22, 2006 at 5:09 pm
Hope she doesn’t fall out of that window.
Suppose its more likely she’d rappel out while firing an M-16 and…
Nice.

The empire grows! And ever the showman you give us a teaser for next week. You oughta work on the intra-office communication tho, Howards sounded pissed.
August 22, 2006 at 6:50 pm
I have so got to take that photo off my Flickr account 🙂
August 22, 2006 at 7:13 pm
Duncan – you do – as wealth advisor – that picture is costing you hundreds of dollars in endorsement money, maybe thousands. 🙂

Just got the memo – WOW

What’s Next For Journalism?
As I mentioned yesterday, I recently published a two-part interview with Travis Campbell, one of the citizen journalists chosen to participate in a brand new project called Team New Orleans. We discussed journalism and the future for fledgling writers, …

She’s boring, and the editing is atrocious. Will everyone stop with th zefrank impersonations already.
August 23, 2006 at 11:22 am
She needs to be miked – had trouble with sound consistency.
Edits were very rough
Content was very uninteresting.
Needs to be shorter – punchier – to the point.
I’d tear this up like you did to the Popcrunch show – but I’m far too nice for that.
At leat Bridgette is interesting.

The reason I posted it here was so that it would be torn up.
I personally think there are a lot of things wrong with it, but not the cuts, I like those. 🙂
August 23, 2006 at 12:14 pm
I don’t dislike the cuts, but they’re not flowing well…
I don’t claim to be a video editor – Loren could probably better describe how to do this in a way that “clicks”, I just know what’s there now doesn’t work..

Honestly sounded like she was chewing gum the whole time. Content was as boring as a rock. Drop some music clips in. Drop something in their so I can hear. Do something.
August 23, 2006 at 12:35 pm
In my other life I used to be a Final Cut Pro editor. Those are jump cuts. When I edit I usually use jump cuts to cover for lack of coverage 🙂 She must have a plan for it, just didn’t flow right. But it’s as raw as it can get… not miked, edited by herself, but still a good first post. Hey, who had a perfect first post. Time will tell. But again, this is MHO.
August 23, 2006 at 12:59 pm
Jump cuts are used as Minic said, ususally to cover up something. To effectively use them like ze you have to use them in a rhythm. You must change something about the shot, or cut on dialogue cues or something like that. This is filmmaker stuff, not blogger stuff. It’s going to be a long road for most bloggers getting into video. Sure they will do it, and their friends will say it’s great. It won’t be though.
August 23, 2006 at 2:19 pm
I know how hard it is to just turn a blogger/video blogger loose and expect them to get it right while everyone stands around and criticizes. It’s like watching your children get slapped around by the neighbors kids.
Doesnt help you sleep at night. Just keep her smiling and it will get better. Brig has gotten so much better from Day One to Day 15 I could just laff.
So I hope to see that kind of improvement out of TBT after 15 weeks. Hoorah. Wish you only the best of luck.

not sure video is the way to deliver this kind of info
i can’t click on the URLs in a video
i think a short 30 second clip for each band and then a link might be better
August 23, 2006 at 6:33 pm
I agree Fred. Video is tough to deliver music reviews that keep us around.
August 23, 2006 at 6:40 pm
The delivery of Erin needs some work. I like the cuts, but I see it more and more so nothing new on that front. Looks like she is exploring the degrees of separations on a particular subject. I like that part and that requires research. Reminds me of my obsession with Leigh Lezark and The Sounds a while back.

some miserable people here today – go outside
August 23, 2006 at 7:53 pm
Howard,
I saw some great feedback here. Really man I wish you guys the best. Vlogging is hugely tough. You and I may not like each other but I still like what Prince is doing over here even if we dont always agree.
Minic is a great sport who I support 10k %. Duncan and I go back aways. I love The Blogging Times. Although I still love BlogMedia and The Blog Herald crew.
That really doesnt influence my comment or somehow I hope I didnt come across as “miserable people”. I really really really tried my best to say nice things, yet honest constructive things from having spent a limited amount of time coaching Brigitte on this video editing and what not.
Luckily for me she’s way smarter than I am. This isnt about that. I love video. I read TBT just as often as I read TBH. I believe I was one of the originals Minic told about the site and I’ve always been a huge fan and supporter.
Peace and Love in the Blogospheric Amoebica.

As Loren said: she’s boring for my liking … but then each to their own.
It’s a little rough but so was The PopCrunch Show when it first started … and you can see how that’s gone from strength to strength.
Char: You asked, you get. It’s good that we can be opinionated even if it’s against our host here.
For me, it’s all about the talent. You either have it or you don’t (apart from all the filmmaking tricks the backend requires) and Brigitte at the PopShow has it. This one I’m not so sure – time will tell.
I guess it’s pretty hard cause you’re all putting yourselves against zefrank – who is a master of such vbogging.
August 23, 2006 at 10:03 pm
Thanks for the kind words Martin. Brigitte has really saved me in so many areas. I can’t say enough about the girl. She runs the whole damn PopCrunch crew. She handles recruiting, video blogging, editing, oversight, direction, our email list, and still has time to boss me around.
I dont see us as going up against ZeFrank I see Brig, and Erin, and Joanne, and all these vloggers doing there own thing. Almost all the content is unique no real copies of each other so its all a plus plus IMO.
Where the hell is Congdon. If she doesnt strike while the iron is hot we might forget who she is!
August 25, 2006 at 12:55 pm
Erin is cute but the cuts really throw off the flow. Maybe you can take a cue from the tips in Podcasting Hacks – minimize the edits so that the flow seems natural.
And if you guys were looking for the Art House/Experimental Film feel, it worked. But then a lot of that crap deserves to stay hidden.

i really liked the video.
