$10/month kinda sucks. There are so many things competiting for that money. I would pony up if I knew what the site was going to be like. I trust Char, and guess I could cancel if it doesn’t live up to my expectations. But $10 a month for a blog? I hope you are not taking yourself out of the conversation. Can ppl still link to you?
Curious. How we react to something outlandishly different. No two of us ever seem to voice the same initial response. We talk a lot about the details. But you never quite divulge the whole story of what it is we’re really thinking.
I guess that makes sense. It does in my case anyway. I need time to process the information to decide about the knowns and the unknowns before I really have an idea what’s going on. I’m having trouble constructing meaning from the bits.
The pdf was fun…so was the Q & A easter egg hunt. The fee might be ok if you are going to get free stuff with it…and Mr. C does have good taste…but my guess is that the fee might be just to provoke OUTRAGEOUS REPONSES!!!!??
I have been an avid reader of beta site for maybe 6 weeks now.. only made one post the whole blog game is a bit new to me..
I was disapointed with the new site because the 9.99 put me straight off… I don’t know the answer to the questions but I don’t care and cant be bothered to searh your old blog google to find out …
I think you will find a certain audience but people like me will go and find a new voice to listen to.
I do think you will get a bigger audience without the paid content, but if you decide to go ahead with this plan, then make it an annual fee, and begin with a trial basis offer to hook some of your people. The NY Times premium content is 50 bucks a year; Salon’s fee is $25. Your prices may be too high, maybe not if the subscribers are given more specifics on what they will get… Just sayin’
[…] The first moment I saw chartreuse2 I thought about this. If I were I genuine asshole I’ld really consider it. But so far I still didn’t sign up and pay, mainly because I am too lazy to dig the archives. […]
Ok, a lot has happened since I moved to Taiwan. I guess being off my and other blogs for a month didn’t really help matters. Paid subscription? Ah well, it’s an idea as any other. I guess I won’t be able to comment any more then.

I’ll miss reading your site.

I love it. You are completely insane! In a good way.

It lives up to the hype so far. Just the opening and the PDF was worth it.
You are an artists.

PDF, you lost me already.

Hagans, you said the same thing about Viral Copy.
What’s your beef with PDF… too easy to print out and read? 🙂
October 13, 2006 at 12:53 pm
Does this mean no more posts here? I don’t get it. 🙂

Freezes my computer? Can’t change font size? slow and annoying? Optimized for print not the web, and I want to read it on the Web?

Anybody feel like sharing notes? I am afflicted with laziness and curiosity.

I’m going to have to agree on the the PDF objection, it’s a really poor user experience on the web. The images compress horribly and scale badly,

people, the pdf issue is truly a minor mistake compared to charging $10 a month for blog access.

Dude this sucks. I can’t pony up for a monthly membership when I just spent money getting out of jail.
